The SAY 52 was officially unveiled to the public at the Parma International Boat Show a few days ago, marking the birth of a new generation of ultralight luxury high-performance yachts. At 15.95 metres long and weighing only 7.5 tonnes, this all-carbon fibre yacht is capable of a blazing speed of 45 knots, a performance rarely seen in its class. At a cruising speed of 20 knots, only 45 litres of fuel per hour are consumed, significantly improving range and fuel economy.

Back to the construction details of the SAY 52: the yacht has a waterline length of 14.12 meters and a beam of 4.4 meters, accommodating up to 12 guests. Its core technology is reflected in the following aspects. The hull and deck are made of carbon vacuum-dimensional epoxy resin in a single infusion – the "king of resins" that is expensive but ensures excellent tensile strength and durability. With a displacement of 11 tonnes when fully loaded, it is about 50% lighter than a traditional 50-foot fiberglass yacht, a comparison worth pondering.
The focus here is on the craftsmanship of its monohull structure itself. Note that this structure must be self-contained and rigid without the need for giant annular frames or longitudinal stiffeners. The hull and deck are cured at a glass transition temperature of more than 90°C, while the structural and interior components are cured at more than 80°C. Taking into account the conductive properties of carbon fiber, the cabin is lined with fiberglass to prevent stray current corrosion – a solution derived from its experience in building supercars.
At present, the global transportation industry is accelerating the transformation and upgrading to intelligence, green, digital, lightweight, and ultra-high-speed, and composite materials have become key materials to break through the technical bottleneck of the industry, achieve cost reduction, efficiency increase and green development with their core advantages such as light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance and excellent designability
